Fishing shows in America that I have been to have been squashed by the Godzilla sized scale of the Osaka Fishing Show. Osaka Fishing Show was not just one building but multiple and each one was jam packed with vendors, activities, food, and civilians checking out the latest and greatest from internationally renowned brands.
This fishing show gave us all a chance to see what’s hot in the Japanese fishing industry and what we should bring back to the states to share with you our customers. Booths were packed with people but when we got to the front to see what was being showcased, something I was most impressed by was the innovative technology. Majority of the things I saw, I questioned “why don't we have this back home?” But don’t worry, us folks here at Tackle World are working on it for you.
A lot of the big game brands like Daiwa, Shimano, Viravas, and Majorcraft really knocked it out of the park with their product showcases. Since this crowd was open to the public, booths had a lot of interactive components to partake in. Many of the rod builders had their own drag test rooms where you could be belted up to bend a big game rod like you were fighting a tuna. FUJI had a really awesome feature for rod building demos and you were working with a world famous rod builder as a consultant.
For families, there were kid friendly fishing demos to catch trout, win prizes, and after all that fishing built up an appetite, fresh tuna was being fileted and sold on the long but worth it lunchline. Every aspect of the show was well thought out, organized, and although it was a huge show full of people, everything flowed smoothly. A room could be jam packed with people but we still feltthat one on one comradeship while talking with reps on a product and filming our product showcases. A lot was learned and ideas blossomed from the Osaka Fishing Show.
